Bandhavgarh National Park

Originally the private game reserve of the Maharaja of Rewa, Bandhavgarh provides one of the best opportunities of seeing tigers in the wild. The core area of a hundred and twenty five square kilometres is the habitat of around twenty of these magnificent animals and a buffer zone has been added, which is said to contain twenty five more. The topography of the park is open grassland, bright green sal forests and dramatic red cliffs which provide useful air currents for the many circling vultures. An impressive fort stands upon these cliffs, from which the energetic hiker will be rewarded by magnificent views over the park.
