Renowned for their natural splendour and numerous monasteries, the four valleys of the Bumthang region are fantastic for walking. At an altitude ranging between 2400m and 4000m the air is thin and temperatures often plummet below zero. Jakar is at the foot of the largest valley, Choskhor, and is famous for its production of honey, cheese, apples and apricots. Here you will find the largest Dzong of them all with a circumference of over 1500m and a history dating back to 1549.
