Holidays to Cambodia

Cambodia’s landscape is an exotic blend of rice paddies, sugar palm plantations and remote jungles. It is a fascinating country, with a rich cultural heritage and at times a turbulent history; it is home to the world’s largest religious building, the magnificent Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples of Angkor. The temple complex was built between the 9th & 14th century AD and was the political, social and religious centre of the ancient Khmer empire which once stretched from Burma to Vietnam. Visible from space, it is one of the world’s most unique archaeological sites which has put Cambodia firmly on the world map as a unique destination.

Traditionally life in Cambodia has always revolved around two bodies of water: the MekongRiver and Tonle SapLake, the name of which means ‘GreatLake’ and it is linked to the Mekong at Phnom Penh. During the summer rainy season, the Mekong rises to the point that water flows into the Tonle SapRiver, causing it to change direction and flow back towards Tonle SapLake. While most visitors come to see the marvels of Angkor Wat, Cambodia offers plenty of natural beauty and adventure for those willing enough to explore.
