Corbett National Park

Snuggled at the base of the Himalayas, Corbett National Park is named after Jim Corbett, the legendary tiger hunter turned conservationist and it was here that Project Tiger was launched in 1973. The varied topography and vegetation allow for very diverse habitats that include flat valleys, rolling grasslands and deciduous forest. The park is a haven for 50 species of mammal, 580 species of bird and 25 species of reptile. Tiger, elephant, Himalayan black bear, dhole, hog deer, barking deer and some of the lesser cats can be seen as well as the slender snouted gharial and the marsh crocodile.
