Fly Fishing for the mighty Mahseer

The Mahseer compels admiration and respect. A fish with an indomitable spirit, which is considered pound for pound, one of the strongest fresh water fish in the world. These incredible fish can be found can be found in the rivers of the northern state of Haryana, India, which flown down from the Himalayas.

Colours are now offering the chance for anglers to catch these amazing fish accompanied by a team of professional guides, led by MistyDhillon who is responsible for creating some of the most effective flies and fly-fishing techniques for catching these fish. The Camp is set in a beautiful location overlooking the fast flowing river, which requires a two hour trek from the nearest road. This two week itinerary allows four full days of fishing, with the option to trek through the enchanting local countryside, before relaxing in the glorious hotel, Ananda, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. 


Depart London for Delhi.

You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

You will have the remainder of the day to relax in the hotel or explore Delhi at your own pace.

The Oberoi, Delhi - 1 night.

You will be met early and transferred to Delhi railway station in time to board your train to Ambala.

On arrival in Ambala, you will be met and transferred by road for an hour before reaching the area of the fishing camp. There is then a two hour trek through the thick forests to the camp site. You will be accompanied by a team of porters who will share the burden of luggage and a packed lunch to eat en route and you should reach the camp in time to cast a fly by the light of the setting sun. 

Camp Mahseer - 5 nights.

Three days of unadulterated angling paradise - remote pools, fast flowing water, shady banks or soft, sandy beaches, being taught how to dress some basic flies (wooley buggers and muddlers work best!), alternative casts (single and doulble Spey) and trying your hand with a double handed fly rod.

There is also the opportunity to swim in the pristine rivers, and trek through the countryside, escorted by an experienced trekking guide.

You will leave after an early lunch, hiking towards the road head. Here you will be met and transferred by road to Rishikesh. A drive of approximately 6 hours. 

Ananda in the Himalayas - 6 nights.

You will be met at your hotel and transferred to the railway station in time to board your train to Delhi.

On arrival in Delhi you will be met and transferred to the airport in time to check in for your flight home.
