Halong Bay

Legend has it that the islands of Halong Bay were created by a dragon as it descended into the sea. Halong Baywas declared a World Heritage site in 1994 by UNESCO, its astonishing natural beauty is perhaps the north’s premier tourist attraction. Hidden lagoons, caves and deserted beaches are strewn throughout the 3000 or so islands. Cruising through the emerald waters of Halong Bay, one can hear a variety of birdsong from the wooded island hilltops, adding to the ambience of this magical natural wonder of the world.
