Mekong River

Having begun its journey in Tibet, the Mekong River divides into nine tributaries in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, giving this fertile region its Vietnamese name of Cuu Long, or ‘Nine Dragons’. The floating villages and lively markets where locals congregate to sell their wares are notable attractions. It is possible to take boat trips along the river and delve into the labyrinthine waterways, as well as explore the interesting riverside towns of Chau Doc and Can Tho.
