Ulpotha, Sri Lanka

A traditional working village, only open to the public for part of the year, in the oldest continuously inhabited region on the island. This is an amazing retreat from the outside world – no electricity, telephones, loud noises, tipping or extras. Accommodation is in comfortable, traditional huts, with palm roofs and open walls, although bamboo blinds do provide some privacy. The furnishings are simple and thoughtful, blending in with the environment and the communal bathrooms are kept spotlessly clean. A selection of treatments are included in the cost of your stay and organic, vegetarian meals are served in the traditional dining hall. |
