Vientiane

Located on a bend in the MekongRiver, Laos’ capital is a relaxing place to while away a few days. There are beautiful old Wats (Buddhist temples), a large market holding the best selection of hand-woven textiles in the country, a variety of good restaurants serving international cuisine and pleasant riverside bars. This is a lovely, laid-back city in which to recover from the rigours of travel.
